FAQs
1. How do I return a part?
To return a part, you must call HALM Industries for a return authorization number (RMA). Once you receive a RMA, you write the RMA number on the outside of the box. Put the part in the box along with a copy of the packing slip and send it back to: HALM Industries 180 Glen Head Road Glen Head, NY 11545 attn: returns. Any package without an RMA number will not be accepted.
2. How heavy a stock can our machines handle?
With our standard EX bottom feeder, Jet Presses can feed and print up to and including 1/32” stock. We have just introduced a brochure feeder, which was shown on our Super Jet Plus XL at IPEX. This machine can feed and print stock up to 1/8” thick. Call your regional HALM office for more information.
3. How does perfecting works?
Seeing the Jets for the first time people are surprised to hear that our machines can print two over two colors in one pass only. The secret is actually just a matter of Ratios.
The system is so simple, on one plate both images are burned, one for the front and one for the back. We use the impression cylinder as a blanket cylinder and ink the impression in the gap between the envelopes. If the envelope is being printed on the front it will be perfected at the same time by the impression cylinder. This means that the envelope is being transported as with front printing only. No flipping or turning or complicated mechanisms, very simple and very effective.
4. If you require two layers of .037 blanket material on the blanket cylinder, why not
just use one layer of .075 instead?
There are companies that manufacture .075 blanket material. We have experienced better print quality, especially on four-color presses, when two layers of .037 are used. You also get less visible seam and flap lines.
5. Why can’t I purchase the familiar blue photocell any longer?
Like many electronic devices in our marketplace, items are discontinued or updated on a regular basis. The manufacturer has replaced this photocell with a similar unit by the manufacturer. We supply a replacement kit, which includes simple instructions. The part number is 7051109. On some older presses, you may have to replace the capacitor in the electrical box. The capacitor is provided in the kit. The photocell sensitivity is adjusted differently than the former unit. Instead of an adjustment screw, there is a button on the lead edge of the photocell. When you teach the photocell, you are in essence setting the sensitivity of the cell to the document. To teach, use the following procedure:
1. Place a black envelope (or a envelope with black magic marker) under the red beam.
2. Press the teach button and hold both green and yellow LEDs until both green and yellow are
blinking alternately. Release the button.
3. Both green and yellow LEDs on, indicate successful teach.
